Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was the mighty king of the Franks, and through his hard work and dedication, successfully laid the base for what is now the modern Europe. Charles was born on April 2nd, 748, and died in 814, and throughout his life he became one of the most successful European rulers in history. His work, generally consisted of the preaching of Christianity, and it is believed that he was really made made it doctrine. Even though he was a Christian, his hate for the muslims was so great, he almost lost his power multiple times, such as the first few failed crusades. The height of his great reign, was in the year 800, when Pope Leo the III crowned him the king of all Romans, and was also titled one of the greatest emperors they ever had. But as he was crowned, he ordered several campaigns into muslim occupied Spain as well as challenging the Anglo-Saxons to his east. It was this that crafted the beauty of modern day Europe, as the later fall of the Saxons and the final crusades were mainly incented due to the work of Charlemagne himself, and without these events, Christianity would never had entirely taken Europe, and therefore the continent would not have reunited. As well as this, he created interest in further crusades through his consistent preach of hatred towards the Muslims, and how he spoke of them as 'brutal savages', that's what really made the Christians develop hatred towards them, and is what gave them the persistence to relentlessy attack them.
